Father Of 9-Year-Old Ezra Blount Speaks Out After His Son Was Trampled At Astroworld Festival

“I’m not ready to lose my boy at all. We still got a bunch of living to do,” Treston Blount said.

The tragedy that took place at Astroworld Festival has greatly impacted the lives of thousands of people, including 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who is currently in a medically induced coma after being trampled at the concert. His father, Treston Blount, has been sharing the story of what happened during Travis Scott’s performance.

“When I found out that he was a big fan [of Travis], I was like, ‘Oh yeah, we gotta go, we gotta go see Travis live,” Treston told ABC 13 Houston. “We was in the back, way in the back, and I figured, ‘Okay, this is cool,’ ‘cause the front can get a little wild.”

Although he did his best to maintain a safe distance from the crowds to protect his son, Treston still felt the impacts of the surge that took place in the back. The pressure of the bodies around him caused him to pass out, which ultimately led to Ezra, who was on his father’s shoulders, falling down and getting trampled.

By the time Treston had regained consciousness, his son had been taken to a nearby hospital to deal with the damage sustained to his major organs, including swelling of the brain. “I could tell that he was damaged. I’m not ready to lose my boy at all. We still got a bunch of living to do,” he told the news outlet.

As PEOPLE reports, the Blount family joined dozens of others who have already filed a lawsuit against Scott, alleging that “grossly negligent conduct” as AstroFest contributed to young Ezra’s life-threatening injuries. The complaint says that the 9-year-old was “kicked, stepped on, and trampled, and nearly crushed to death.”

“To his young, growing body, these injuries will have life-long effects, impairing his quality of life and ability to grow and thrive as he would have had he not been subjected to this incident,” documents read.

Earlier today, we also reported that Scott had a woman spending most of her Friday protesting outside of his Houston mansion, holding signs saying that Drake, Kylie Jenner, Apple Music, and other organizations linked to the festival “deserve bankruptcy.”
