Andrew Wiggins missed his 20th straight game on Tuesday for the Warriors. Before the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr discussed his absence. In his interview with the media, Kerr stated, “Once he’s back, our training staff will get with him and see where he is [physically].” The team hopes that he will return before the season’s end. Kerr added that there’d been no discussion of shutting Wiggins down for the season.
The reason Wiggins has been absent from the team has been announced as “personal reasons.” Rumors of what the situation could be have been running wild. As Wiggins’ girlfriend had to shoot down rumors of problems in their relationship. While he may not be with the team, Kerr stated that Wiggins has been working out daily. Golden State will need Wiggins at 100% if they can repeat as league champions. The Warriors have been a subpar team without him. The team has posted a 10-9 record in his absence, which is not where they want to be in a stout Western Conference.
When Will Wiggins Return?
Wiggins’s numbers this season have been nearly identical to his production of last season. The Warriors forward is averaging 17 points, 2 assists, and 5 rebounds. The Warriors sit as the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Although, the playoff race is tightening up, and that position isn’t guaranteed. Three of their last five opponents will be fighting for playoff positioning. Bringing back another offensive weapon would be huge for this team.
The NBA playoff race is coming down the backstretch. With teams like the Warriors looking to avoid the Play-In Tournament. Having a team at full health is vital at this point. Where will the Warriors end up seeding-wise when the playoffs begin? Will Andrew Wiggins return? As of today, they would have a tough matchup with the Sacramento Kings. A team that is looking to make a huge statement. Where do you think the Warriors will finish this season? Let us know in the comment section.
