Meet M Dot Taylor, the rapper, singer, songwriter and military veteran from Detroit, Michigan, currently residing in Los Angeles. His sound is a captivating blend of rap and singing, a fusion of genres he calls “Gangster Harmony”. This unique sound authentically represents his lifestyle and culture.

His Detroit upbringing has played a pivotal role in his life and career. Raised by hustlers who worked tirelessly all year round, M Dot adopted a similar work ethic. His philosophy is clear: “If you don’t work you don’t eat, you don’t grind you don’t shine.”

M Dot’s biggest influences are his late parents and grandparents who taught him to be a leader from a young age. His path in music solidified after meeting two iconic figures in the industry, Ice T and Dr. Dre, thanks to his manager Hen Gee.

His unique artist name “M Dot Taylor” was inspired by his time in the U.S Navy. The name came about due to a mix-up with laundry on board the USS Harpers Ferry LSD 49, where there were multiple sailors with the same last name. To distinguish himself, he got a special name tag that read M.Taylor, subsequently earning him the nickname “M Dot Taylor”.

His latest collab “Biggest Fan” featuring Jim Jones & Maino, came into fruition after reaching out to Zaytoven for a custom track that led to business discussions and a trip to NYC. M Dot admires Jim, Maino, and Zaytoven for their association with greatness, longevity, and their consistent effort to stay on top of the game.

The music video for “Biggest Fan” was shot in NYC under the creative direction of Will C of Street Heat. M Dot wants fans to take away that it’s essential to appreciate and spoil the ones that always support you.

Music became a coping mechanism for M Dot after losing both his parents. Turning to music allowed him to discuss hard topics and find healing through his art. His time in the Navy has also shaped him into the organized, time-managing, and critical thinking person he is today.

In the studio, M Dot needs three things: his engineer, Mary Jane, and food/drinks. His goal as an artist is to be a better version of himself every day, and with his talent, drive, and authenticity, M Dot Taylor is here to stay!
