Shaquille O’Neal Appointed President of Reebok Basketball, Alen Iverson Named VP

Reebok, the iconic sports culture brand, has made a monumental announcement by appointing legendary hall-of-famer Shaquille O’Neal as the President of Reebok Basketball. This move is part of Reebok’s long-term strategy to re-emerge into team sports and reinforce its global commitment to performance basketball.

Throughout his illustrious 19-year career, Shaquille O’Neal redefined the role of the dominant ‘big man,’ amassing MVP accolades and becoming a pop culture icon. Reebok’s partnership with Shaq, initiated in 1992, marked one of the most prolific athlete-brand partnerships in history. The first year of this partnership saw the introduction of the “Shaq Attaq” signature shoe alongside memorable ad campaigns and product lines, setting the stage for Reebok’s dominance in the ’90s and early 2000s.

“We are thrilled to be expanding upon our partnership with Shaquille with this historic appointment. As  an athlete, he made an incredible imprint on not only our brand, but the entire sport and culture of  basketball,” said Todd Krinsky, Reebok CEO. “With the combination of his deep-rooted history with Reebok  and reigning influence he’s made on the game, there is no one better than this guy to take the helm and  lead our brand back to reclaiming its rightful place and dominance in basketball.”

Shaq kept his statement short: “We’re back, baby! Get ready.”

As Reebok’s President of Basketball, Shaquille O’Neal will lead the brand’s basketball category strategy and establish partnerships with athletes and organizations to regain a dominant presence in the sport.

“We are proud to further Shaquille’s connection to Reebok as the brand’s new President of Basketball,”  said Nick Woodhouse, President and CMO of Authentic Brands Group, owner of the Reebok and Shaquille  O’Neal brands. “Since acquiring Reebok, we have been steadfast in restoring the brand’s position at the  intersection of sports and fashion. This expanded partnership with Shaquille puts Reebok back in the game  with a more active position than ever before.”

In conjunction with this move, Reebok has appointed basketball legend Allen Iverson as Vice President Reebok Basketball, further solidifying their commitment to the game. Iverson will play a key role in player recruitment, community initiatives, and athlete activations.
