Standup comedian and actor Kevin Hart is taking legal action against controversial YouTuber LaTasha Kebe, also known as Tasha K, and his former assistant, Miesha Shakes, over an alleged extortion attempt involving a bombshell interview. The 44-year-old star filed a lawsuit, obtained by Page Six, claiming that Kebe and Shakes concocted a plan to release a damaging interview unless Hart paid a six-figure “ransom.”
According to the lawsuit, Kebe and Shakes recorded an interview filled with what Hart contends are “false and defamatory statements” about him. Afterward, an associate of Kebe allegedly contacted Hart’s team, demanding a substantial $250,000 ransom to prevent the release of the damaging interview. A teaser clip of the interview was posted, emphasizing Kebe’s determination, stating, “when you don’t pay, we have to get money by any means necessary.”
Undeterred by the ultimatum, Hart swiftly took legal action, issuing a cease and desist letter pointing out that Shakes was bound by a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Confidentiality Agreement from her time working with him. Despite the legal warning, Kebe proceeded to release the full interview on her subscription-based website.
In the interview, Shakes discussed Hart’s legal troubles, alleged gambling addiction, and accusations of habitual cheating. Now, a legal battle is underway as Hart is suing both Kebe and Shakes for extortion and invasion of privacy. Shakes faces additional charges of breach of contract and defamation, while Kebe is accused of intentional interference with contractual relations.
