‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Trailer: The Iconic Franchise Brings together the Past And Present In Spooky New Sequel

If you’re a fan of the original Ghostbusters movie, Sony and Columbia Pictures just dropped the new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and the familiar faces in this one may be up your alley as it revs up to hit theaters this March.

As reported by Deadline, the new film is directed by Gil Kenan and penned by Kenan and Jason Reitman and shows the next generation of Spenglers, based on the descendants of the character played by the late Harold Ramis as they continue the good ol’ ghostbusting and paranormal investigation family business but wait, this time they will be teaming with the original Ghostbusters. That’s right, the gang is back – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and even Annie Potts will be back in action. Apparently, they have created “a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.” Now “the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old join forces to save the world from a second Ice Age.”

All are coming back from the 2021 reboot Ghostbusters: Afterlife is Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard, alongside Patton Oswald, Kumail Nanjiani, and William Atherton back as baddie bureaucrat Walter Peck.

From Deadline: “In the continuing story of Egon Spengler’s kin –his daughter Callie (Carrie Coon) and two grandkids, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trever (Finn Wolfhard)– the hottest New York City on record is experiencing a “death chill” after an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force. It’s up to the Spenglers have to team up with the original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) to thaw the Big Apple out. Along for the ride is Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani with Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson returning.” Expect to see Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, and the original Ghostbuster’s quirky but sassy receptionist Annie Potts.

Writer from Ghostbusters: Afterlife Gil Kenan, who also executive produced the reboot, is hopping into the directing chair while Reitman is co-writer with Kenan. Reitman also serves as a producer with Jason Blumenfield. Expect Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in theaters, thankfully, on March 29, 2024.
