Almost a half-decade since her last studio album, EVE, Rapsody has released her fourth studio album Please Don’t Cry.
“People had to put up a mirror for me,” she said to Apple Music’s Ebro Darden. “He [producer No ID] was like, ‘Everybody knows you can rap, but I can’t tell you five things that I know about you.’” That conversation would plant the seeds for what may be her most personal work to date.
A 22-song effort, Please Don’t Cry is led by the previous singles “Asteroids,” “Stand Tall,” and “3:AM.” The likes of Hit-Boy, Erykah Badu, Nicole Bus(!), Lil Wayne, Baby Tate, and actress Phylicia Rashad among others make contributions throughout.
