Afro Nation’s second annual trip to the Motor City promises activations and events that pay tribute to the city of Detroit’s historic contribution to the global music scene, and most importantly, Black music. In 2023, the festival drew tens of thousands of attendees each day to Bedrock’s Douglass Site, once a historically significant housing project in Detroit that was the first federally funded housing project for African Americans in the United States and the former home of legends like Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. Before the festival, Afro Nation hosted a series of Homecoming Conversations for industry professionals and artists, covering topics including musical innovation, entrepreneurship, and more.

The second annual Afro Nation Detroit promises to be an unstoppable party, boasting an enviable array of the hottest acts in today’s industry. Nigerian megastar Rema headlines, bringing his catalog of world famous Afrobeats jams to the Motor City. North American names like Toronto titan PartyNextDoor, and Detroit’s own Kash Doll will perform, as well as African giants like Adekunle Gold and Ayra Starr. These major acts are supported by rapidly rising stars of the Afrobeats scene, including Amaarae, Ruger, and King Promise. The Piano People stage returns once more, bringing some of the most exciting acts performing the ascendant South African genre of Amapiano, including Uncle Waffles, Scorpion Kings, DBN Gogo, Musa Keys, and more. Stay tuned for more announcements about the full Afro Nation Detroit lineup.
