Atlanta Shooting Suspect Deion Patterson At Large After 1 Killed

A medical building in Atlanta was the site of a shooting earlier today. It resulted in the death of at least one woman and injury of four others. No suspect was in custody at the time of the incident. However, police have since identified Deion Patterson, 24, as the perpetrator in a tweet. As of Wednesday evening, he is still at large. The Atlanta police chief stated during a press conference that the five women were shot in a waiting room at Northside Hospital. The suspect reportedly became agitated while waiting for an appointment. After this, he pulled out a handgun and shot the five women.

A 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the four injured were transported to a hospital for treatment. Three of the patients were in critical condition, and one was in stable condition. During a news conference, police indicated that a camera spotted Deion Patterson, the suspect, near a parking garage close to Truist Park and The Battery. The police chief stated that the suspect carjacked a vehicle to flee the crime scene. Authorities believe they have recovered the car.

Suspect Is Still On The Run

Deion Patterson is still on the run, according to police. “Everyone consider him still armed and presenting a danger to whatever community he may find himself in at this time,” police said. The authorities have not recovered any firearm that may have been used during the shooting. Patterson was described as having very minimal contact with the Atlanta police before the shooting. He was also reportedly part of the US Coast Guard until earlier this year. The police have instructed that no one should approach Patterson.

While it is unclear what exactly caused Patterson to shoot the victims, it is the second US shooting making major headlines in less than a week. Just last Friday, five were killed in an “execution style” killing in Cleveland, Texas. Luckily, the suspect in that case was caught. Still, with each incident that occurs, it becomes more clear that something must change. Until then, citizens must simply remain vigilant. Stay tuned to HNHH for any updates on the case.
