The week is ending off on a high note, with new music from a Southern rap pair, a posthumous effort from a beloved rhymer, a buzzing artist who’s carving out his own lane and plenty more.
DaBaby and YoungBoy Never Broke Again have partnered up for their latest offering, Better Than You. The 12-track project was first teased at the end of last month and is led by their first single, “Neighborhood Superstar,” which has received over 2 million views on its official visual on YouTube after just two days. The joint album is Baby’s first release since his 2020 EP, My Brother’s Keeper, in honor of his brother who took his own life two years ago. As for NBA YoungBoy, who is currently on home confinement in Utah as he awaits his trial on federal firearms charges, he delivered his most recent mixtape Colors back in January.
King Von may have been taken from the world too soon when he was shot and killed on Nov. 6, 2020, but his estate is assuring that his legacy and music lives on. A posthumous album by Von titled Whats It Means to Be King has arrived today as well. The LP includes 19 songs and a copious amount of features from 21 Savage, Fivio Foreign, Moneybagg Yo, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Tee Grizzley, fellow Chicago natives G Herbo, Dreezy and his close friend and the head of his Only The Family label, Lil Durk.
Just months after releasing his breakout project, Bin Reaper 2, burgeoning Michigan rapper BabyTron drops his latest effort, Megatron. His new release has 23 joints, including the single “6-Star Wanted Level,” the first song in the tracklist. ’Tron continues to lean into his humorous rap style on the offering. He recently dropped crowd favorites “Euro-Stepper” and “Paul Bearer.”
