Red Bull SoundClash was inspired by the culture of competing sound systems originating in Kingston, Jamaica, during the 1950s and subsequently spreading around the world. The basic idea was for artists, MCs and DJs to challenge each other to create the ultimate party, whipping up the biggest crowd and walking away with the ultimate bragging rights. As clashes evolved over the years, Red Bull SoundClash was born to add wider scope to the traditionally dancehall and reggae-focused musical battle. Set over four rounds, bands and artists musically duke it out with the recipient of the biggest crowd reaction – captured on a decibel meter – to be crowned champion.

The final show of Red Bull SoundClash was held at the iconic Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom a Chicago hotspot that has hosted artists like El Tri, Omar Apollo, and more. Following the event’s first stop in Los Angeles where Tornillo won the loudest cheers from the crowd, the Chicago event saw a new side of DannyLux’s performance complete with new renditions of his music and even a proposal on stage in the first half of the show. At the end of the night, DannyLux evened the score, taking home the Red Bull SoundClash Chicago championship belt.

Both artists brought special guests to the clash, including Calle24 joining DannyLux’s stage and Kinto Sol surprising fans on Tornillo’s stage.
