Eminem Features Detroit Natives Big Sean and Babytron on New Single ‘Tobey’ Out July 2nd


Eminem has announced that his new single, “Tobey,” will be released on July 2 as the second track from his upcoming album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).” 

The song features Detroit artists Big Sean and Babytron. “Tobey” appears to reference Spider-Man’s Tobey Maguire, as hinted in a teaser lyric.

Get this, the Cole Bennett-directed music video for “Tobey” will debut on July 5. In the preview, Eminem dons a hockey mask and chainsaw, reminiscent of his look from the Anger Management tour in 2000.

ICYMI, Eminem has been indulging in nostalgia with the rollout of “The Death of Slim Shady.” 

His recent single “Houdini,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, echoes his 2002 hit “Without Me,” featuring a music video where he dresses as a superhero in a comic strip world. Let’s not overlook that his record debuted at NUMBER 2. Eminem is 51. Put some respect on his name.

The new album was announced during the NFL Draft in April with a Detroit Murder Files crime show teaser, suggesting it would explore the end of his alter ego, Slim Shady. Eminem also placed an obituary for Slim Shady in the Detroit Free Press.

Details about “The Death of Slim Shady” remain sparse, with Eminem keeping specifics under wraps. He has mentioned the album will drop sometime this summer, and Dr. Dre has confirmed his involvement in the production. Dre has entered the chat. Now we’re really ready.
