When we asked Brandon his favorite artists, he sent us this playlist. A mix of his favorite boom-bap lyricists and beats. The style is named after a sound that was pioneered by NYC Emcee’s in the 1990’s as the beats go, ‘boom bap. boom boom bap’ in rhythmic pattern.

Creating a whole album of songs which hover around this 93 BPM (in honor of classic hip hop album, 93’ Till infinity), Brandon produced, wrote, recorded and mixed this just like Russ.

The first song brings a listener into a teleportation machine which is moving from current day modern dance music sounds, into a much more boom-bap style. A simpler time.

As the album progresses Brandon speaks on music, money, love, politics, business and self belief. Each album is entitled accordingly with one word.

The Template is a collection of personal stories told from the perspective of a suburban kid who grew up listening to Eminem, but quickly built a respect and admiration for all hip hop has to offer.
