Ohio State dominated Notre Dame in the College Football Championship thanks to freshman Jeremiah Smith’s ability to be open 24/7 like 7-Eleven, and several celebs were on hand to see the victory.
The first year of the College Football Playoff’s new 12-team format has ended with Ohio State standing atop the sport. As previously reported, Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman made history by becoming the first Black head coach to make the National Championship Game.
And while this accomplishment was celebrated, Freeman’s Fighting Irish couldn’t put a stop to Ohio freshman Jeremiah Smith.
Ultimately, Notre Dame was overwhelmed by both Smith and Ohio State players Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson running wild for a combined 170 yards.
As Marcus Freeman schemed the team back into the game, one play, leaving Smith open, put the dagger in the heart of the Irish.
That play spawned several Instagram skits before the game even ended, but in defense of Freeman, it was his first time under the brightest lights, unlike Coach Ryan Day and Ohio State, who’ve sniffed the Championship Game or Semi-Finals every year of the 2020s.
With stars like LeBron James, Stephen A. Smith, and Anthony Mackie watching and Coco Jones singing the national anthem, Ohio State brought the trophy home with a 34-23 win.
Ohio State reportedly spent $20M on this year’s roster, putting college football on notice. It’s a new day, and your school’s purse must be open to competing.
