The Weeknd has been a busy man as of late between his upcoming HBO show, his multiple appearances on Mike Dean’s last album 4:23 and his own music. He’s now added another deal to his plate.
The Weeknd is Ethiopian which is also where the heritage of coffee is tracked back to, so it only makes sense that the artist has his own coffee line. Today, he announces that he’s teaming up with Blue Bottle Coffee for a line called Samra Origins, named after his mother. He and his mother taste tested some coffees of Ethiopian blend before settling on one most similar to the kind his mother makes at home. They then worked on perfecting the flavour profile, which features scents of fresh fruit and bright florals.
The Weeknd told Billboard that “Samra Origins is a true passion project of mine that Blue Bottle matched and understood as we developed the products together. I hope the result ignites curiosity about Ethiopia’s people and motivates others to give back to communities in need.”
Check out the official announcement below. The line drops on May the 9th and you can be notified about it here.
