Response coming in May?
Star talks why Kendrick Lamar has not released, giving the only logical reason of anyone in media why it hasn’t released. With our time very limited in media viewing these days, we took a moment to catch up on a few episodes on one of the only platforms we watch.
Last weekend, Star held a special episode of the Star Report to discuss Drake calling out Kendrick Lamar for not responding to his diss tracks. That prompted the OVO rep to double down and share his “Taylor Made Freestyle,” mocking the Los Angeles rapper for not reacting to his response.
With this decade-plus battle finally coming to a head for the masses to enjoy, they’re still waiting for some type of reaction from K. Dot. Last week, Rory and Mal alluded to Kendrick Lamar potentially readying his new album for next month in May.
While we haven’t received this same intel, Mal went to state that he’s heard the project was on the way this year. Star made an interesting point of his own, on why the response hasn’t happened yet. Much like J. Cole’s diss towards Kendrick Lamar, Star said he believes that K. Dot will use streaming to release his response to Drake.
Last week, it was reported from Billboard, that Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” with Kendrick Lamar is the first song to claim no. 1 in its first three chart weeks since Drake’s “Nice for What” in spring 2018. It also became the first hip-hop song to clear 40 million streams since Cardi B’s summer 2020 hit, “WAP.”
Now, Star gave his own personal theory that Kendrick is waiting to deliver his next album, which will debut no. 1 in the world on the charts, being his first away from Top Dawg Entertainment with his pgLang imprint.
We’re personally expecting the Drake response to arrive on Kendrick Lamar’s next album, which is rumored to be arriving in May.
